Anybody home
Um, hello... one and all. I haven't written here for quite some time. Reasons being firstly my life - professionally speaking was the same. I wasn't getting anywhere and that was depressing. So each post would have gone like so...
'Yeah, I applied for a job and they said no!'
...and my life personally speaking. Well... that was just for me. So. No posts.
Now. A few things have happened that I figure are post worthy. So here goes.
A couple of weeks ago there was a post on some media sites asking for production assistants for a day on a movie. I applied and was called with a yes. It was for a movie called LVJ, been shot in New York, Hollywood and London (yeah, I was sceptical too) and we were shooting deep in the woods near Gatwick. In short it was lots of fun, I have a credit on the movie, a great reference and was invited back to help on some further shooting in April.
I decided that as I only had one day with these people so I had to make an impression and so made myself indispensible. But I paid for it for about five days after. The actual location was a 10/15 minute walk from the car park into the woods over uneven ground - and that was without equipment. So I maybe did a little more carrying than I should of but hey at least I didn't wimp out on the day and made that impression that I could handle it all.
So when I had almost recovered then came the weekend in Birmingham. Me, Timo, Gav and Helen went and stayed at Spigs. I have to say he and Jo were amazing hosts to the point that I felt bad. We went to Memorabillia on Saturday which was loads of fun. Saw Craig Charles and Danny John Jules which was cool. But the highlight for me was buying a large painting of Kabuki by David Mack signed n' all. Call me weird I care not. Sunday was nice and lazy and we travelled back to London. I believe Timo was having withdrawal from the London smog. So thanks Jo and Spig - you rock, oh yes.
Something else has happened back home. Aiden (my step dad) has grandchildren and he and my mum take them for the weekend every once in a while to spoil them as all grandparents should. Only when they went to pick them up his daughter was drunk, asleep on the sofa with a couple of random guys (apparently from the halfway house) drinking cider. The place was disgusting kinda like a really bad squat.
Aiden got the kids and got them out of there. Once they got home the little girl breaks down crying and begs my mum and Aiden to let them live with them. Apparently the mum leaves the little girl alone with these guys every weekend and packs the boy off to his other grandmother - just the boy. She doesn't feed them properly or take care of them properly. Their hair was matted. Personally my first thought when I was told what she had said about the guys was have they hurt her? No answer on that score yet but I'm worried.
So my Mum and Aiden came to the decision that they will call in social services and if the mum doesn't sort herself out they will fight for custody. They got legal advice and its likely they'd win too. They said they would start all over again with raising the kids as they can't leave them there.
Aidens daughter was never an angel but she wasn't like this to her kids before. I think from what I last heard she's been given a chance but I want them out of there. My parents are of the same mind set. We'll just see what happens. I may be a more active aunt from now on.
Gladly.
So that was it. Anything else - I don't feel like sharing.
Who knows this may become a regular thing again.
